Purpose: Chicken Farm for First Lutheran Church, Cap Haitien, Haiti
The
Story: In November of 2009 Pastor Casci of Bethlehem
Lutheran spent one month at First Lutheran Church of Cap Haitien,
Haiti. First Lutheran Church has a project aimed at creating
income for the church members and food for the community. First
lutheran has purchased the property and now they need to build a wall,
a small apartment, purchase chickens and get this business off the
ground. Members of First Lutheran will be able to sell the
chickens thus creating income for them and proving food for their
families and the community. Chickens are a prized commodity and a
staple for their diet. This is more important than ever since Cap
Haitien is a main refuge for the thousands of refugees from the
earthquake in Port Au Prince.
How does it work: If you want to ride, ask friends and family members to support you with a monetary gift. Their contributions to your ride will go to the chicken project. Checks should be payable to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and in the memo write "chicken ride 2010." All riders are welcome. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
